Gibson continues a string of violent actions, and members of Weller’s team verbalizes worry about blindly following the tattoos on Jane’s body without knowing exactly what is going on. The team continues investigating Gibson, and they learn more about him that calls into question his state of mind.
Upon leaving the house, a bomb explodes that destroys evidence, while the man, Major Gibson, escapes. The tattoo reveals a name, and Jane, Weller, and a couple of other agents head out to investigate the discovery. The “case” this week deals with a tattoo of a cipher that is unlocked by the tattoo that was used in the previous episode (that sounds more complicated than it actually is, and the characters do a great job at explaining it to us laymen). Specifically, Jane remembers what she perceives to be an assassination, leaving her more worried than ever before about who and what she was. She quickly shows how adept she is with both guns and combat in general, and more memories start to flood back to her. She later works with Agent Weller to test out muscle memory with different weapons. She mentions that the FBI thinks that she may be a Navy SEAL, but she doesn’t believe that the unconventional nature of that training session supports that story very well. He has her attempt a Rorschach test, and it ends up helping her recall the memory of training in the woods that she regained at the end of the pilot. The episode begins with Jane in a session with her therapist. Let’s take a look at Jane Doe’s continuing quest to discover her true identity with the show’s second episode, “A Stray Howl.”

If nothing else, we’re being made to feel sorry for him – and that was never supposed to happen.The series premiere of Blindspot was one of the biggest highlights for me during premiere week, and I’ve been anxiously awaiting the follow-up episode for the past seven days. But he’s become dulled as a character by the Angela plotline, and feels increasingly unworthy of having big plots hung on him. And I have nagging doubts about the role of Andy – when introduced in season three, he was brilliantly funny, and worked in moments or set-pieces. While one of the show’s strengths is the excellent array of supporting characters it’s built up, that’s also a weakness in that sometimes you feel the right ones aren’t getting the exposure – it’s criminal, after all, that a double-length episode should give so little screen time to Creed. There’s still a sense that The Office‘s absolute best days may just be behind it.
This was classic Office, a beautiful shock moment to rank up there with the various other twists and turns their relationship has provided. I must admit that about halfway through the episode, I was all set to get extremely angry at the prospect of some random guy at college worming his way into Pam’s affections – yes, I’m far too emotionally invested in this show – but it turned out to be a sublime piece of wrong-footing, and having spent the fourth season waiting for Jim’s proposal, it was extremely canny to have the eventual moment be as much of a surprise to us as it was to Pam. Depending on how long, in “series” terms, Pam is off the scene, this is an idea ripe with comic potential, and makes Ryan’s story neatly circular – even if it’s a little unrealistic that Dunder Mifflin would let him anywhere near the company again.Īnd then, of course, there’s the latest development in the Pam and Jim saga. Ryan’s return, in particular, was extremely well-played – barely had the viewer had time to wonder exactly how he was back, before the “reveal” was expertly done. And again, characteristically, much of it was about wrong-footing the audience.
As far as the plot goes, too, there was plenty to cover – indeed, perhaps getting it all crammed in was one of the reasons for going with the episode’s format.
